What Is Pan Dulce?

Pan dulce translates to "sweet bread" and encompasses dozens of varieties. A single bakery might offer 20 or more types on any given morning.

Popular Varieties

  • Conchas — Soft rolls topped with a crunchy sugar shell. The most iconic pan dulce.
  • Cuernos — Crescent-shaped pastries, light and flaky.
  • Orejas — Elephant ears made from caramelized puff pastry.
  • Polvorones — Mexican shortbread cookies that crumble in your mouth.
